STONE JUMPING


The warring villages in Nias used to fortify themselves with two-meter-high bamboo fences. Each village encouraged their youth to jump over-meter-high big stone structure as a practise to attack other villages. Being able to jump over the megalithic structure also attests to bravery and manhood of a young man.
